Summer Lovin'

First two weeks of summer were spent away, so it's time to have some fun in our home town. It's summer all year long here, but there's a special vibe in May-September. The manatees come back in May, which is magical. The snowbirds are gone, the beaches are far less crowded, we run into people we know, it's just a fun place to be, kinda like the small beach town Naples apparently used to be. And everything we do must include the water because it's so dang HOT.

Alastair's competitive skimming has progressed; his improvements are beginning to be noticed. In June, he became a sponsored rider for Exile Skim Boards, Old Naples Surf Shop, and Surf Naples! It was a celebratory day for sure. He was gifted a sweet carbon fiber board from the Surf Naples team who also ride for Exile.

We're so proud of our boy! He is super fun to watch out there.

He continues to impress us.

My friend, Heather, and I made flower crowns for a women's circle gathering at the beach.

My girls had to get in on the flower crown fun and decided to make their own at home.

Maisy and Graham are banana hunters. These bananas are tiny and super sweet. We like to freeze them and dip them in chocolate for a frozen treat.

Beach babies

They've been building lots of forts on these hot summer days.

Impecable balance!

While brother was at sailing camp, we took the girls on a little paddle adventure.

Taking these jumping-off-the-paddleboard pics became a summer fave!

Our favorite starfruit tree on the way home from the beach.

My beautiful boy💙

Uncle Ricky came for a visit. We had to take him for margaritas at Felipe's, our favorite marg/tiki spot in town.

Apparently, I didn't take many photos of Ricky's visit. But we sure loved having him here.

Vilano Beach. Alastair took 1st place at the skim competition!

The Exile Team. Three of them are Naples folks.

Graham was gifted a One Wheel from his dear ol' buddy, Kevin! He knows Graham all too well and knew that his mental recovery from cancer was best spent on a new board. Graham is hooked! And he was reminded that no one fits the Kevin sized hole in his heart since we left Missouri...love you, bud!

One Wheel unboxing day. STOKED!

Canaday Family Vacay 2019, Daytona Beach.
This is the whole crew in the shirts that we had printed and tie dyed together. Twelve adults, 12 kids, complete chaos.

I had trouble convincing anyone to join me on the beach for sunrise every day, but Graham and I ate it up!

Brothers in Law

A few of the cousins on white shirt + denim photo night.

Brix buddy was the littlest baby on the trip. What a doll!

Milo is hilariously ready for the beach :)

Uncle Ry doing some of our grilling. He had a little ironing mishap on his new white shirt😂

Tie Dye day!

Uncle Micah and Milo were too cute on family photo night.

Cousin hike!

After a week in Daytona together, Booma and Boompa took seven of the cousins to the Space Coast for a week of space camp at Kennedy Space Center. What an experience for these cousins!!

Space camp cuties.

Father son skate date.

First day of middle school for Alastair and 4th grade for the girls.

First day of school special dinner = dad's homemade vegan sushi!

Alastair and Maisy decided to join cross country this year. It's a tough sport as they have not run any distance in the past. Practice is three times per week for two hours a day during our hottest months. I usually drop them at practice with a heat index of 105*.  They complain a little, but I think the camaraderie and the challenge are good for them. Also, running is my sport, so I'm happy to have a couple of running buddies!

During the last bit of summer, Booma and Boompa bought a house here in Naples. They plan to be here off and on, especially during our season (Jan-April.) This was the day they took possession. We celebrated with a pizza pool party. I've never lived in the same town as my dad and Debe as an adult; super happy to have them here!
